Auch wenns mir schwer fällt zu sagen, aber vielleicht ist es wirklich doch das beste, die Serie mit der 3.Staffel zu beenden, anstatt ständig falsche Hoffnung zu schüren. Im Grunde genommen haben sie ja auch alles erzählt, was es von den Büchern her zu erzählen gibt (die Stories aus Hannibal Rising, Red Dragon und Hannibal. Bei Silence of the Lambs haben sie ja keine Rechte für). Und so wie es sich anhört soll das Staffelfinale auch gut als zufriedenstellendes Serien-Finale dienen können:
Both Fuller and Hugh Dancy answered “Yes” that this year’s season finale could be a satisfying series finale if it indeed ends there. Dancy (slightly) elaborated, “It will be very satisfying [if we don’t return]. But also it does have a good jumping off point if we are able to continue.” But Fuller said, “the [events of season three] would change the Hannibal and Will Graham dynamic in a huge way, which would reinvent the format of how we tell the show [if we got a fourth season].”
Was ich noch interessant fand, warum der Ausstieg von NBC die Serie trotz internationaler Fremdfinanzierung so gekillt hat:
Fuller:
“Once NBC passed on a fourth season, that dismantles our international funding. A lot of international channels need the broadcaster to say, ‘This is the American TV drama on this network!’ And that gives them the ability to sell in many regions. Without that we lose the Sony component, and then it’s a domino, because we lose AXN after that and then we lose channels all over the world. We don’t just lose NBC, we lose AXL Latin, AXN Japan, AXN Korea, AXN Brazil, etc. So it’s back to square one to find the proper financial model for the show.”
