GastBBC Two’s three-part drama, Life In Squares, is stirring up interest, and getting some hot and bothered, ahead of its Monday airdate in the UK. The story of the Bloomsbury Group — a collection of friends and lovers that included Virginia Woolf, John Maynard Keynes, and Lytton Strachey — it’s billed as an “intimate and emotional portrait,” but is also understood to feature its fair share of sex (see trailer above).
Life In Squares dramatizes the relationship between sisters Woolf (Lydia Leonard) and Vanessa Bell (Phoebe Fox). It also delves into Bell’s sexually complicated alliance with gay artist Duncan Grant (James Norton) as they, and their group of like-minded friends, navigate love, sex and artistic life in the first half of the 20th century.
Also among the rich cast of young Brits are Sam Hoare (An Adventure In Space And Time), Ben Lloyd-Hughes (Divergent), Edmund Kingsley (The Borgias), and Ed Birch (Sherlock). Eve Best, Catherine McCormack, Rupert Penry-Jones, Jack Davenport, Elliot Cowan and Andrew Havill further feature.
