    Daphne Maxwell Reid (born July 13, 1948 in New York City, New York) is an actress.

    She has appeared in numerous television programs, best known replacing Janet Hubert-Whitten for the role of (Aunt) Vivian Banks on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air from 1993 to 1996. She joined the show right after the fictional character Nicky Banks was born, when Hubert-Whitten left the show to take care of her own child.
